About Connon Studios

At Connon Studios, every project is examined individually and treated accordingly, working closely with the client or architect. Our aim is always to conserve both glass and lead work where possible, and to undertake reversible interventions where necessary. In some cases, significant improvement to the overall appearance may be achieved by dismantling panels in order to replace previous (inappropriate) repairs and restore the original cutline; such interventions would be carried out in consultation with the client or the Conservation architect and with appropriate art historical advice and written reports.

An important element of our practice is to protect endangered windows (those showing evidence of glass corrosion, paint loss or biological growth of moulds or algae), where necessary,  In some cases a period of environmental monitoring by a recognised body may be recommended to support the case for protective glazing or wire guards and to demonstrate its efficacy; however, with the wealth of published evidence available from previously monitored projects, as well as Connon stained glass practical experience, we believe that monitoring is not always necessary for every building.

All conservation work is undertaken in-house by our multi-skilled team, including restoration painting by our resident artist / designer Evan Connon All projects are fully documented, from initial condition to records of work undertaken.
